Monday, May 5th, 2003: Philadelphia Ambassadors right fielder José López rose above the controversy surrounding his soon-to-expire contract, thriving under pressure last week and copping the Player of the Week award in the Cooperstown League.
López put up a .448 batting average (13-29) with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 7 times.
In this current campaign López is hitting at a .316 clip with 8 home runs and 21 RBIs. |

Monday, May 5th, 2003: Emílio Peña demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Hoboken League Player of the Week Award.
The Toronto left fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .562 average (18-32) with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
This year Peña is batting .349 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs. In 26 games he has scored 33 times. |

Sunday, May 4th, 2003: Carolina River Otters left fielder Spike Wilson left yesterday's game against the San Antonio Scorpions after suffering 5 making a defensive play. Wilson was taken to the clubhouse for examination by team doctors. A team spokesman told BNN today Wilson is expected to miss 4-5 months.
This season Wilson has delivered 20 hits in 96 at-bats for a .208 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .303 clip and his totals also include 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored. This year Wilson has played in 27 games. |
